Is this Acupuncture?
No, it's acupressure. Since it it acupressure on the shell of the ear, it is called Auricular Therapy (pronounced aw-rik-yuh-ler). No needles! We use a non-electrical metal probe to stimulate the ear.

How do I care for My Happy Dots?

Where do you put My Happy Dots?
We place them on the outer shell of the ear.
Is it going to hurt?
We only touch the outer shell of the ear with the probe. You may feel a slight pressure, but it only lasts a few seconds.
How long should My Happy Dots stay on the shell of the ear?
Is there a schedule I should be following?
Each person is different depending on their stress levels. Here is a general schedule.
PHASE 1:

Can I combine my Auricular Therapy Session with a Reflexology Session or a Spinal Touch+ Session?
You may combine the Auricular Therapy Session with a Spinal Touch+ Session ONLY if you have had an initial Spinal Touch+ Session by itself first. We call Auricular Therapy (Happy Dots) a Stress Buster Session when it is combined with either Spinal Touch+ Session or Reflexology Session or both.

How often should I rub my ear?
Anytime you have stress or cravings. Most people find between 5 to 10 times a day is adequate.

How do I rub my ear?
Stimulation is given by rubbing the lower lobe and outer edge of the ear to the top of the ear in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion at times when you have stress or cravings.
Will My Happy Dots still work if I don't rub my ear?
The purpose of rubbing the ear is to bring blood to the shell of ear. By doing this, it gently pushes on the dots helping it to release your own body's serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins.
Why can't I touch my Happy Dots?
Touching them will loosen the tape which can move the tine metal dots to another spot on the ear. The dots are placed in a precise area so they can stay activated. If they move, they lose the ability to work.
What do I do if they come out? Should I try to reapply them?
No. Do not try to reapply them. You will need to schedule another appointment to have them replaced.
If I was given arm/hand or leg/foot points, how often should I rub them?
Since you are actually touching these points, you only need to rub them about 3 times a day for 10 to 30 seconds. These additional points are usually given after the first and second sessions.
What do I do if my ear starts itching?
It may sound funny, but we have had many clients swear by this: scratch your other ear! For some reason, it takes away the urge to itch your ear with the Happy Dots.
What are the Happy Dots made of?
Depending what your particular stress or habit is, we use tiny metal pellets made of either stainless steel or silver, surrounded by a latex free or hypoallergenic tape. In some situations, we may use Gold or Titanium.
Do I need to remove the Happy Dots after 8 weeks?
It is good to see how much the body has learned. By removing the Happy Dots after 8 week , it allows your body to experience and know first hand that it is capable of doing a lot on it's own. It will also help you to know how much help is still needed.
Will I get addicted to using the Happy Dots?
No. The Happy Dots are just a tool to help your body learn to relax and retrain it how to handle stress by itself. Once this is re-established, your body will desire to do it on its own.
I handle stress pretty well, but certain times of the year, I feel I need some extra help? Can I come in just during those times to have the Happy Dots put in?
Yes. After your first nine weeks with the Happy Dots, your body will know how to handle stress better. Your body will tell you when you need to reapply the Happy Dots.

Will anyone know I have these in the shell of my ears? Are they very noticeable?
We cover them up with surgical tape. This hides them pretty well.
What do I say if someone does notice them on the shell of my ear?
So if anyone asks you, “What’s in your ear?” you just tell them to back off because they are standing way too close. Just kidding. Most people will not even notice you have them on the shell of your ear unless you show them. And if they do happen to notice you can invite them to get Happy Dots, too, since most people experience stress and anxiety, too.

- WEEK 1: Initial Session: Apply Happy Dots and keep in for one week.
- WEEK 2: Refill Session 1: Replace Happy Dots and keep in for one week.
- WEEK 3: Refill Session 2: Replace Happy Dots and keep in for one week.
- WEEK 4 & 5: Refill Session 3: Replace Happy Dots and keep in for two weeks.
PHASE 2
- WEEK 1 & 2: Refill Session 1: Refill and keep in for two weeks
- WEEK 3 & 4: Refill Session 2: Refill and keep in for two weeks
- On Week 5, Remove Happy Dots: They should be removed (at home) for one to seven days. This allows the body to know how much it has learned in handling stress with the help of the Happy Dots. If desired results are obtained, then proceed to Phase 3. If you feel that you still need help, have them applied again starting with Phase 2.)
PHASE 3
- Refill session are every two to four weeks.
- After eight weeks, the Happy Dots should be removed (at home) for one to seven days. If desired results are obtained, then they can remain off until needed. If you feel that you still need help, have them applied again starting with Phase 2.
